Welcome to SoCalTropics Landscape Design

We offer anything but the normal landscape design for Southern California. Our primary design focus is to promote and propogate the fantastic variety of rare and unusual plants that thrive in our local climate. First, so as to save you, the reader, from a waste of your valuable time, here are some initial disclaimers:

• This is not the place for agapanthus, pygmy date palms, New Zealand flax, and every other "good ol' standby" that dominate the majority of every new planned community in SoCal.
• This is not the place for homeowners with overly restrictive CC&R's
• This is not the place for people who simply want to "keep up with the Joneses"

If you're still with us, here's what we do offer:

• A deep knowledge of tropical and subtropical plants that will survive in our climate, for those of you who want to push the envelope and turn your residence into your own small slice of the tropics
• A deep knowledge of plants from places elsewhere in the world that thrive in our mediterranean climate, but for whatever reason are not commonplace here in the United States
• A vast library of literature on plants of the world, to aid in research for specific desires of the client (as opposed to a set "palette" of plants that is recycled over and over again)
